Strategic Planning, Accountability and Change – EDUC 718
Dr. Doris Wilson Fall 2015 Reflection… I learned the core aspects of strategic planning for schools and strategic planning for my personal life by taking the Strategic Planning, Accountability and Change course. Dr. Wilson shared her knowledge and expertise in a way that I was inspired to dig deeper about the purpose of my life. My legacy and contribution to this world came alive listening to lectures, completing assignments and getting involved in activities in class. The structure of the class and format of assignments were inviting to contribute as a learner and a leader in the profession of education. Each week we were challenged to take care of our physical, spiritual and intellectual self. I applied the knowledge I gained from this course in my role as a principal instantaneously. I was assigned to critique the strategic plan of Desert Sands Unified School District. I absolutely enjoyed developing my own strategic plan. My mission, core beliefs, objectives, strategies and parameters are crystal clear to me as a result of this assignment. Dr. Wilson took time each week to give feedback in developing the final product. I also had the opportunity to get feedback from Dr. Lindsey Gunn, Senior Associate of the Cambrian Group. The Cambrian Group developed the strategic plan for Desert Sands Unified School District and many other school district and businesses. Dr. Will J. Cook Junior, the author of the Strategic Planning For America’s Schools we referenced in the course is the founder of the Cambrian Group along with Dr. Gunn. My Mission Statement... The mission of Ifthika “Shine” Nissar, a polylingual, bi-cultural, leading advocate in early childhood education is to ensure that undeserved children with special needs discover their potential and pursue meaningful lives by: Promoting inclusive mindsets and practices Empowering families Supporting professionals, educators and specialists Establishing lasting relationships |
