Politics, Legislative Action and Educational - EADM 730
Fall 2014 Dr. Debbie Stine Reflection… Taking this course ignited my passion for the profession of law. Dr. Stine’s contribution to the profession of educational leadership and administrative law was shared throughout the course. I looked forward to attending class to for the stimulating discussions about legislative actions in educational law and how law applies in policies in general. Dr. Stine’s method of teaching and her dedication was motivating. The concept of Institutionalism as it relates to politics, organizational leadership and the U.S. culture was discussed through our text books, court rulings and research papers. I learned about the impact of court rulings shapes the administrative aspects, board policies of school administration. I enjoyed reading the article As Moths to a Flame: Education Policy Research and the Controversial Issues of Race by By Jeffrey R. Henig and presenting the information with Jackie Mantz. Discussing about the court system and cases that are up for hearings by the Supreme Court motivated me pursue my J.D. sooner than later. I want to concentrate in the realm of law to support children with special needs and continue my advocacy work for children with special needs. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to see Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy at an intimate “student connection” event at the Palm Desert Campus of CSUSB. Hearing Justice Kenndy’s discussion about how the American Judicial System shaped to what it is today was breathtaking. |
