For the past 16 years, Dr. Diana Walsh-Reuss has served as Riverside County Associate Superintendent of Schools responsible for two divisions: Student Programs and Services comprised of Alternative Education and Special Education, and Children and Family Services, which includes Head Start, State Preschool, Child Care, Migrant Head Start, and Migrant Education. In addition, Dr. Walsh-Reuss facilitated the creation of Come Back Kids, a drop-out recovery charter school program serving students up to age 24, and Riverside County Education Academy, a military-themed charter high school.
Prior to joining RCOE, Dr. Walsh-Reuss served and supported the students of Moreno Valley USD for 15 years as a special education teacher and in multiple administrative positions. She also served as a general and special education teacher for five years in Michigan.
Dr. Walsh-Reuss holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California and master’s degrees in both School Leadership (California State University, San Bernardino) and Special Education (Wayne State University). She recently earned Leading Edge Certification in blended and online learning.
During her career, Dr. Walsh-Reuss has been dedicated to the success of at-risk students and focused on the belief that "All students can learn": Whether it be a significant disability, a lack of school success, behavioral and delinquency issues, abject poverty, English Language deficits, high transience, or a combination any of the preceding conditions, she believes each and every child has potential for success in school, and it is our job as professionals to be force multipliers to make this happen.
